About CompanionHunt

Why this site exists

AI companions are the only software category where the product can change personality overnight. Models get retired, prices rise quietly, content policies reverse, and the people most affected find out from a Reddit thread. Meanwhile, almost every "review" site in the category silently orders its rankings by affiliate commission, and nobody publishes actual test data.

CompanionHunt is the answer to both: the same rigorous test run against every companion app, with the methodology published so anyone can reproduce it, plus a dated record of what every app costs and how it has changed. Not reviews. Data.

The YouTube channel

CompanionHunt is a YouTube channel and this site, built as a pair. Every benchmark run becomes a video where you can watch the test happen, and a page here holding the scores, the tables, and the raw data. The site is the part you can cite; the channel is the part where you can verify it with your own eyes. Watch on YouTube.

Who builds it

CompanionHunt is built by an independent developer who also makes Softly, an AI companion app for iOS. That conflict of interest is the premise, not a secret: someone systematically studying every companion app to make his own the best, and publishing the data along the way. The rules that keep it honest are in the methodology: no paid placement, no affiliate-influenced rankings, and Softly never ranks above where the data puts it.
